Guest Posted September 24, 2002 Share Posted September 24, 2002 Hi Betsey, you may be out of luck here on your '50, as I recall the shade you described was an early metallic, which are prone to fade much more than the solid colors, the safest way to restore as much gloss as possible, is to wash the car thoroughly with a mix of warm water and dish washing soap, go over it with a light rub with polishing compound, a very mild form of rubbing compound, then apply Meguiars Cleaner-Wax, go lightly with all the steps, as the paint is probally very thin by this time, and is likely to "rub through" down to the primer, good luck, hope when done it will really dazzle you, they were great old cars-OC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
