1940TORPEDO
I just saw on my facebook feed an advertisement about the changing to a new style formula called CK-4 starting December 2016. Have you heard about this? I wonder if the Zinc content is going to be change?
Guest Grumpy's Auto Shop
All I can say is that Rotella is an exceptional product, but it was specifically formulated for use in large displacement diesel engines, which have different needs than gas engines of any size, or age. Using it in a gas engine may be successful but still amounts to a 'band-aid' fix which does nothing to correct any underlying issues. For that reason I don't recommend its use in applications other than what Shell states as its designed purpose, other than 'get you to Gramma's for Thanksgiving' or 'get the car to the Shop'. Annie G
When I had my engine rebuilt and bored out in my 1990 454SS my engine builder recommended I use Rotella exclusively... that was 12 years ago and the truck is runing like a champ! No problems whatsoever I've not heard of the CK-4 but that doesn't mean much lol
