Guest
Hi Pete, par for the course with a worn V-12, many have been known to run for a long time with abysmally low oil pressure, but the 20/50 is probally a good idea, no ideas on how to raise the pressure without extensive re-furbishing, it is the nature of the beast, and 12's are not noted for being long lived engines, as long as there is some oil pressure while driving, and the lifters don't start clattering at idle, say a little prayer and continue on, you are not alone-
Guest
I would like info on the correct oil pressure on a v 12 with quite a bit of use. I have tried a heavier oil such as racing Valvoline 20 50 and the car has great oil pressure when cold started around 40 lbl, however when driving aprox 10 miles the pressure drops to 12 to 18 lbs and when stopping to idle it looks like 0 or just above yet I hear no knock. Thanks, Pete
willie
Helo Pete, are you using a direct reading gage on the engine port to check you oil pressure? My dash gage will not read correct, so I have a direct reading gage to be sure. Just a thought. Willie
Guest
Thanks for the information. I will try a direct gauge to see if mine is working properly. Pete
