Beltfed
Below is a pic of two 1938 dash clocks. See anything odd? The bulb socket hole is reversed on one of them. Anyone know if the bulb is at the 12:00 o'clock or 6:00 o'clock position? Please excuse the repurposed .38 hull/fuse holder.
Beltfed
I just answered my question. The bulb location should be in the 6:00 o'clock position. At the 12:00 o'clock the innards will get in the way of the bulb. Also, it has been suggested to use the lowest wattage bulb possible to keep the heat from drying the lube out on the inside. Guest 39 Pickup
It is also advisable to use a 1 amp fuse for the clock instead of a 2 amp fuse. If your battery should get low while the car is inactive, the 2 amp fuse will allow the points in the clock to meet, but not activate. This will result in the points arcing and burning out. A 1 amp fuse will blow and the points will be saved.
