ricosan
Good Morning Everyone,When I took delivery of my 8-125 it had a new exhaust pipe, muffler and tail pipe installed. I thought that a straight eight should sound better but I didn't give it a lot of thought. A fellow member of AACA whom I would characterize as "extremely knowledgeable" suggested that the 2" diameter pipe I had on my car was too small. He said I was losing 8 to 10 hp and even ran the risk of possible engine damage. I am seriously considering increasing the diameter of my system to 2 1/4" pipe from the manifold back. I don't think it will do any harm and my engine may appreciate it.What size pipe do you run on your Big Eight engine?:confused:ricosan

ricosan
Thanks Kaycee,I had my exhaust guy do his magic on my exhaust pipe. What a difference it made. He took it from the manifold to the tailpipe trying to minimize bends as much as possible. It sounds better and it pulls stronger at higher rpms. I would definitely recommend this fix if you find you have 2" pipe.2" exhaust on left and 2 1/4 on right.ricosanQUOTE=kaycee;1281424]HI My interchange manual lists 2 and 1/4 inch exhaust for your Marmon pipes. kaycee
