36 Buick weather stripping

I am getting close to installing new weather stripping on th top of the doors of my 36 Buick. These have channels to accomodate the weather strips. Taking out the old ones does not seem to be a problem using a razor knife to split the old hardened stuff and then taking it out in 2 pieces.

Does anyone have any tricks of the trade to install the new ones? I thought of making some kind of scraper to go thru channels and make sure they are very clean. Also lube the strips with something to help pull them thru the length of the channels.

On an off topic subject, Brood 11 of the Cicadas are out in full force here singing loudly every day. Amazing creatures, live in gound for 17 years, come out and sing for a few weeks, breed, lay eggs in tree branches, and then die. Larva falls into the ground for another 17 years!

Thanks,

Tom
