Guest
My 88 Regal Limited has a coolant problem.
On two occasions coolant poured from the
botton of the firewall area. The events were
five months apart, however, coolant is lost
on a regular basis. As much as half a gallon
in 75 miles. At times a vapor appears to be
coming from under the hood while driving.
Every possible hose, clamp, and connection has been either tightened or replaced.
ANY IDEAS??? The Old Guy
It sounds to me like your heater core has sprung a leak.
Guest
I agree, a pinhole in the core can come and go, but a gallon in 75 miles sounds like you,ve got more than a heater core.
Have you done a compression test yet?
Guest
Check the metal coolant pipe that runs along the right (passenger) side frame rail from the heater core to the front of the engine.
These are famous for rusting out, we sell a lotof them at the dealership I work at.
