Guest nsbrad1122
After rebuild engine was tested in shop and it ran. Now it is in car and it won't start. Please give me some items to check out. You can hear that it wants to start--it catches a little but then quits. Any suggestions? I would appreciate any imput. D Yaros
It can only be fuel or ignition. Was the distributor bumped/moved/installed improperly? Could there be spark plug wires not on the right plugs? From what you state, it does sound as though it is getting fuel, so I would concentrate on ignition. Many, many years ago after I rebuilt a 265 c.i. Chevy engine it would not start for me, no matter what I did. I took it to someone more knowledgeable than me to diagnose. He popped the hood, took a quick look, switched 2 plug wires and she fired right up!
