The Old Guy
Unless someone has changed the engine in your 69 ,it is a 430. Nevertheless, the Edelbrock performer is a good manifold and you stock Q-jet should work just fine. You may want to jet it up .002 ,but try it like it is first. Guest
I am planning to replace the carb and manifold on my 69 electra 455. Edelbrock suggested their Performer RPM Q-jet #1910, and the Performer dual plane #2146 manifold.
Does anyone has experience with this combo? Guest
Thanks - of course, my 69 has the 430. My 70 Electra has the 455. The reason I want to change out the stock Q-jet is that the float bowl drains over night, and I just can't seem to seal the plugs on the bottom. It is a 30 year old carb with 110,000 miles, so I thought I go for a new one. Does any one rebuild old carb like that?
Guest
i think that the performer and the Q-jet carb are a good idea. you can have your Q-jet rebuilt for less that half of what a new carb costs. plus you can retail the original carb for the car. just talk to other car guys in your area or go toa NAPA or other good parts store and ask them if they know of any shops in the area that rebuild carbs. i think that is your best course of action.
john
