If the window sweeps are gone (I think they were attached to the chrome at the top of the door and below the rear 1/4 window), water must get in between the window and the chrome. Ron Luchene Posted July 11, 2012 Share Posted July 11, 2012 The purpose of the window sweeps is to keep debris from getting inside the door or body cavity. There are drain holes which allow water to escape. If the sweeps fail, debris can enter and plug these holes. The debris will hold water and eventually the body will rust.
