Guest Fairlaneman66
Can somebody tell me if these cars outside mirrors? I have holes which may have been for a mirror on the passenger siden near the cowel area. Nothing on the driver side that would have been holes for a mirror. My floor boards appear to be made of plywood. But plywood was not made at that time. Can it be that I am looking at "early" plywood?
Guest 36chev
The 30 Chevrolet would not have had mirrors mounted to the cowl. Someone more than likely mounted a mirror at a later date (it had been done on my 36 Chevrolet). Plywood was definitely around in 1930. It was used at least as early as World War I in the German Albatros aircraft to form the fuselage (1915).
Guest 36chev
I got curious about the origins of plywood. According The Engineered Wood Association , the ancient Egyptians are credited with first gluing together multiple layers of wood!"Modern" plywood was patented in 1865, with the mass production of modern plywood beginning in 1905-1907.Source: The Engineered Wood Association: Milestones in the history of plywood.
