Guest fenwick
When I am driving my 70 Riviera, I am getting a clunking noise from the front of the car, when I put on the brakes. It sounds like the shoes are moving a good bit and then make contact with the brake drum. This can't be the problem because I recently replaced all of the shoes, and they aren't moving that much. The car does stops ok. I am wondering if the brake booster could be making the noise? Any suggestions? Thanks, Fenwick Binder
1965rivgs
Check the brake reaction rod bushings, also upper control arm bushings. Did you check that the lug nuts are tight? Just some suggestions... Tom Mooney
Guest fenwick
Thanks for the help Tom. I think that I have found my problem. One of the Brake Reaction Rod Bushings is gone, and the other one is badly worn. The rest of the suspension stuff has been replaced, and is ok. I have ordered a kit from CARS, so I'll put it in next week. Fenwick Edited May 12, 2012 by fenwick (see edit history)
