Guest mphsmitch
My name is Patrick and I have a buddy that had a 46 DeSoto and hes has a problem he cant figure out. He is not to internet savvy so I am helping him try to figure out why his car will not go into 3rd gear. It has been converted from a 6 volt to a 12 volt system and he things that might be the problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Guest alperin1
DO you know what transmission is in this car? I do not know if it came with the tip-toe shift or not, but if it did, then this may be the issue. The tip toe shift in my 1950 has solenoids on the transmission to shift and because they are electronic they work off of the 6volt system and switching to 12volt would cause problems.Again, this is only if you have the tip-toe shift. If it it manual shift, then I do not have an answer. Guest mphsmitch
Thanks for the reply, It does have the tip toe transmission and looks like someone made a mistake by converting it to 12 volt.
