Guest jroyse
Forgot how to test my coil. The test that by passes the distributor. You disconnect the primary wire from the distributor, then what?

You disconnect the primary wire from the distributor, then what?I'm sure I read about this on this forum somewhere Thought I saved it but my computer has continuous running operator errors, therefore its now lost forever. So some body bail me out please.
Owen_Dyneto
I don't know what test you were thinking of, other than just testing to see if you can induce a spark. That's simple, just break the primary with the secondary near a ground and see if you get a spark. BUT coil tests are notoriously unreliable indicators of coil performance. When in doubt, especially if problems occur as the coil warms up, it's time to replace it.
