The 1925 DB Book of Information advises using kerosene to flush the differential and gear box.

Is there anything wrong with just using a regular petroleum based solvent like one uses to wash parts?

I got the "600W" oil from Lang's Ford parts, BTW. It's a little pricey, but it's what all the Ford T and A guys use.
