Guest buicker
Just started to rebuild the fuel pump on my 8 57 and I can't figure out how to get the old diapraghm free from the two metal flanges. It looks like a rivet but in the manual they show a nut. Also none of the parts resemble what's in the manual except the diapraghm. Could this be an aftermarket pump? Or did they switch pumps mid year? Thanks. Jay
michaelod
Jay, While I am not an expert on fuel pumps, I did rebuild the one on my 1930 Buick Master series. It definitely had a nut holding that diaphragm on which made the job rather easy. Is this an AC pump? If so it should be cast into the body somewhere. Thanks,
Guest buicker
I do see where the ac is stamped and I looked on bob's at some of their kits and found some of the later years came with that whole assembly. The one I got just had the rubber diapraghm so maybe it's off a latter model?
michaelod
Contact Mike at Then and Now Automotive for the correct fuel pump rebuild kit for your pump. He is extremely knowledgeable about these early pumps and a great guy to work with as well:Antique Auto Parts CellarThanks,
Bob Engle
I've got a couple old fuelpumps from 32 50 series engines. Send me a pm if you are interested. I'll check to see how the diaphragm is attached.Bob
