buick1930
Does anybody know the secret to getting the bell housing off of a 30 331, so I can remove the flywheel? It appears there are two bolts between the flywheel and the bell housing that have to come out from the inside.thanksgreg
michaelod
Greg,Not sure I can help with this specific question, however I will say that you need to be extremely careful removing the flywheel as these are very heavy and could easily cause injury. I currently have an example of this exact flywheel laying on the floor of my garage and this thing weighs a ton. I removed the flywheel from a '65 Oldsmobile once and it weighed nothing compared to the one from a 1930 331 Buick. Sorry I can't be of more help. Thanks,
buick1930
Thhanks Michael, I know the flywheel is heavy, about 110 pounds. I have the engine out of the car now and really don't want to put it back in without cleaning the flywheel (it has a lot of rust) and checking the rear main seal. So I'm looking for any help on how to get it apart.
