cpwalter
I am working on what is supposed to be a 1938 DeSoto overdrive and I need a blow up of the trans/overdrive combo and any experience out there from those that have worked on one. I have the trans separated and the trans gears off the main shaft. Now I am attempting to remove the spacer plate and pull the main shaft out of the overdrive to see what the insides look like. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
oldjim
Why are you tearing it down?
cpwalter
There was a lot of junk in the trans and looking in the drains from the OD it looks like there is gunk in there as well. Put kerosine in to see what came out and it did not look good. At the very least it needs a total cleaning out. Found a broken tooth on the sliding gear and some loose rollers in the trans so I am wondering what the OD is like inside.
