Guest Stormbringerut Posted July 24, 2009 Share Posted July 24, 2009 (edited) Howdy guys. My 1988 is back to running rough at times. The only code it pulls is the E042. I plan on installing a new ignition module/coil that I have. Any other suspects to check out for this code/condition?When I put the computer into diagnostic mode the rough running stops. When I take it back out of dignostic mode it will return to running rough.I also have some HVAC issues. The air conditioning crapped out yesterday. I get no cool air and do not think the compressor is turning on now. Belts look fine. Before the AC stopped working I had some vibration while on the highway and now I have a tinny sound when running?Mike. It also has a comment in the FSM that say.....Causes system to operate on bypass spark.
