jpscout66
My father has a 1934-35 Dodge pickup that he has done a compelte restoration of. He has the original motor, but it was in rough shape for an show car so he found another motor and he was wondering about the numbers on the engine block. From what he could see it appeared to be DU-135661. He wasn't sure if the 1's where "I's" or what. I wasn't able to find much on the internet, so if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!!

Guest carlnut50
Have you already installed the DU block? I seem to remember from 40 years ago that the 34 and older blocks have short water jackets and 35 up has full length. This presents a starter clearance problem when installing a late block to an early bellhousing.
jpscout66
The motor has been in for a little while. As a matter of fact he did have a problem lining up the rod on the kick start. He had to modify it by shortening the rod, dropping it down and changing the spring around. Sounds like your right on the money.
jpscout66
Unfortunately he dosen't have the old engine now, something I was unaware of until now. But he did remember that the number on the old engine had a "T" in it.
