Guest VeloMan
Another French anniversary: the 50th year since the Vespa 400 was introduced into the United States. Vespa made these cars in France rather than Italy. Import began to the U.S. in 1958 and continued until 1961. They only made one model which had a rear-mounted 2-cylinder 2-cycle engine. It really couldn't compete with the VW Beetle, but it had it's own charm. I own a 1959 model which I hope to restore soon! A rally and meet will be held in October in Knoxville, TN, hosted by Microcarlot.Phil
Guest VeloMan
The Knoxville Vespa 400 Rally was a great success. Fifteen Vespa cars showed up. There was a 2-day workshop at Larry Newberry's Microcar shop where we took apart an engine and transaxle. It's nice to see so much interest in this odd little car! There are a few videos on YouTube.Phil
