Guest kakenk
I have a 63 Olds Dynamic with a 394 2 bbl carb and the slim jim transmission. The engine and trans were removed and reinstalled in the car. There is a vacuum line running from near the carb to a very small canister which is mounted to the trans dip stick tube. From this canister the vacuum line runs to the transmission. The trans fluid is being sucked out of the trans and to the engine where it is burned and exhausted. What fluid that is not burned and exhausted ends up in the crankcase causing an overfull condition. Does anyone know if this is the correct routing for the vacuum line and/or if something else within the trans may be screwed up? Where can I get a vacuum line diagram for this car? Oldsfan
Disconnect that vacuum line immediately! That is the vent for the transmission and should not have vacuum applied to it. That canister collects small amounts of transmission fluid that are vented, and returns them to the trans. For a vacuum line schematic, I recommend finding a '63 shop manual.Paul
