1954 Buick Brake Problem

CPA Buick

Recommended Posts

I have a 1954 Super Convertible with Kelsey Hayes Power Brakes. At least it had those brakes prior to failing. No luck having them repaired as the rod in the booster has broken. It seems that no one around the country has original replacements.

Any advice out there on replacements? New technology would be fine. The car is all original with less than 60K miles so I do not want to slap a bunch of new parts on it. However, if I can't drive it, it is little use to me.

Thanks for your reply.

Who would know or care about the age of a brake pedal rod? It's not something you can readilly see. Some of today's posts are about guys who are insisting on replacing with dual master cylinders, because safety just makes sense. Slapping on potential OEM death doesn't.

If your rod is part of the booster, I'm sure a booster rebuilder can handle the task. Give Dewey a call:
