DaveW
Where wood spoked wheels specific to model years or were they pretty much the same for a few years around 1920? What model years will fit my 1920 touring car? Are there different sizes I need to watch out for. This is my first dodge project so any help I get is greatly appreciated.ThanksDave
Guest imouttahere
DB cars had 32 x 3-1/2" tires from 1914 to 1922. D.B. had been using Stanweld rims from the outset. On January 19, 1917 they switched to Kelsey-Hayes (wood) felloes and rims. Then in 1918 they switched from the Kelsey-Hayes rims to DB-made straight-side rims, but then on January 29, 1920 they switched back to Kelsey-Hayes rims with steel felloes. On June 12, 1920 they increased the diameter of the wheel flanges and provided six attaching bolts through the rear spokes. Starting on May 10, 1922, they started using 32 x 4 wheels and tires on their wooden wheels and 33 x 4 on their wire wheels.Consult the DB Master Parts Book for more detail.Source: "Dodge Brothers: Good Enough Is Not Acceptable", Don Butler, Cars and Parts Magazine, 1979.
