Guest
Hello Everyone,
Need some feedback from you all.
My harmonic balancer started rattling (rubber part ripped) so now I am taking it in for repairs on Monday. I thought that I would go ahead and have the water pump, crankshaft sensor and of course the drive belt replaced while this was being done ($660 parts, labor & tax). Also thinking about having the timing chain replaced since the car has 159,000 miles on it.
Is all of this excessive or a good idea while working in this area?
Anything else that may need attention while working on this area?
Thanks in advance,
Alex
Guest
By all means have the timing chain and sprokets replaced with cast iron units.
As long as the harmonic balancer is off, it's not too much trouble to remove the timing cover. Also check out the magnet on the cam.
Price does not seem unreasable. Your Reatta will thank you.
