rappar Posted April 11, 2002 Share Posted April 11, 2002 my 90 reatta will occasionally stop running. i was at 60 mph getting off the freeway on a downhill ramp. i took my foot off the gas pedal to coast to a stop. the engine quit. this has happened a few other times when i came to a sudden stop.<BR>any suggestions ???<BR>thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest EDBS0 Posted April 11, 2002 Share Posted April 11, 2002 Put gas in car?<P>Sounds like the transmission torque converter is locking up and not releasing and stalling the car.<P>Have also seen a dirty throttle butterfly valve cause this. Guest Posted April 15, 2002 Share Posted April 15, 2002 Your problem is usually caused by a sticking <BR>idle air control (IAC) valve. It gets dirty. It's located on the intake manifold.<BR>When you take your foot off the gas the engine dies. My wife went and bought a new car because she was disgusted with her 90 Reatta trying to get her killed. I found the problem and cured it with a spray can of cleaner-lube. I now have a nice running 90 Reatta as a spare car. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
