You need a capacitor, not a diode. A more complex circuit adds a diode and a resistor to prevent the cap from shorting when the switch closes. The stock condenser is beefy enough to not need the diode and resistor. It would be nice to know what happens when condenser is connected. It would solve any bounce problems, but it might also retard the timing. I don't know how much, but I'll see if I can find out what the capacitance of the typical condenser is and do some math.
