Yes to the plugged radiator core. With engine running see if there is substantial cross flow at the top of the radiator. If not, radiator R & R (remove and rodout). I leardned the hard way on that with my 51 and 54 Packard 327.

Hello from Austin TX: The color you are asking about is called a grey--but it resembles a chalky brown. You get the proper paint from Bill Hirsch in HMN but you will have to put it in spray cans.
