  1. There is a 1989 black Reatta for sale in Omaha, Nebraska. It has 143,000 miles on it and the guy wants $5,900.00 for it. I told him he was crazy on the price. I looked at it and it seems to be in good shape. djbillyt@hotmail.com
  2. Have you changed the timing chain yet?
  3. Jim, Are you located in Duluth, Minn? I am in Omaha, Nebraska. I am considering on some purchases from you. If you are that close to me, I can just drive to your location. I need a good drivers tan door panel. Also I am looking at the 16 way power seats, (tan in color). Thanks for your reply.
  4. Hey David, When you say the whole setup, do you mean the complete engine with the supercharger-etc on it?
  5. What's up? I understand you had problems or are currently having problems with your ignition switch. In that switch assembly, (in the steering wheel), there is a thing that they call a cam/fork. That thing can go bad and jam up things, and cause your type of problem. It happened to me about 5 years ago. I understand that it was a GM flaw due to wear. It is very understandable because the ignition switch does get alot of use over the years. Check it out when you go in there. I had to get a steering wheel repair guy to do the work for me. He knew about the problem on GM cars. The cam/fork was about $35.00 at the time.
  6. Here is my two cents worth. I had a similar problem. Display would come on sometime and sometime not.Turned out to be the power control under the dash near the right side of the steering wheel. WOW, the problem went bye-bye after I replaced it. Not sure if my problem is your problem, but wanted to share that with you.
  7. What's up with this low boost supercharger? What does it look like-etc? Can you supply info and pictures via this discussion board?
  8. Hey Daniel, I'll have to get with you one day about the supercharger installation. I was tracking you and your project last year in 2007 but interest kind of fall off. I have the supercharger-etc. Just wondering how much electronics had to be modified. Holla Back man !!
  9. Hey, Paint the muffler with 2000F degree black paint and the muffler won't show so much. Worked great on my 89.
  10. That's funny. The weight & balance is just fine.
  11. I saw some MTX, (5.25), speakers just recently. They cost $119.00 for a pair. They were single, (not dual voice coils). In other words, they were bass/low range only speakers. They seem to be high quality units. I'm going to take my Reatta rear speaker enclosures to the vender and size the whole deal up soon, (as of 14-Oct-2008). I am looking for the foam/rubber clearance when the coil retracts and contracts. There could be a possibility that the foam/rubber will chaff the plastic speaker enclosers as it moves in and out. I will report my findings and the part/model number of the speakers soon. Also if I purchase and install the speakers, I will let you all know about their performance/sound.later
  12. I for one would like to see this done. Don't give up. Make it happen!!
  13. Daniel, You are right. I removed the tabs with a hack saw blade. Next time I will use a small air grinder with a small cutting wheel. The hack saw thing was slow. Also the inside of the vertical center console was modified somewhat. The steel lining inside on the left side of the console was cut and modified to accommodate the din size radio cage, (the cage that the unit slides into). The steel lining was not cut out completely but just partially and bent/pushed out to accommodate the cage width from left to right. All din size radios have the same width from left to right. The problem area is the measurement from front, (just behind the radio faceplate/trim rectangle), to the back of the radio. Some units are shorter than others by a couple of inches. That measurement is important because the unit will hit the fuse box on the right rear side if the radio unit is too deep. This limits the radio models you can use, but there are lots of high tech units out there that you can use. I'll send/post some ideal measurements to work with when I pull my radio unit out in a couple of days.I'll also post/send some pictures when I modify the console that I recently brought from the junk yard. I will have to do it a couple of times to get it perfected. I'll Maybe even play around with the dash faceplate choices, to get the right look. I have access to lots of center consoles and dash faceplates. It's almost like research and development at this point. Later
  14. Hey Daniel, No I didn't remove the fog switch. I relocated it just above the Sony audio unit. See it under the ipod to the right? I did some cleaning up of the installation today, (Oct-12-2008).I Will have more pictures as I progress.
  15. Hey Daniel, That's neat. Good Job! I went out to the junk yard today and got another vertical center console for $5.00. I'm gonna try a little something until I get it perfected.
  16. Actually Daniel, I have not lost control of the old set up. It is still in the car, (minus the cassette deck) and works, it's just not hooked up to the car speakers.
  17. Thanks. That's the idea expressed in the post,Daniel. I don't care about the stock radio. It's not up to specs. Cool to touch a screen and make it work but not practical in today's digital world. Besides I can control the new radio by a remote on the left side of my steering yoke wired to the new set up. Actually, I could have ran the radio parallel to the stock radio,(with extra speakers), but the idea was to get rid of the old radio for the new set up. There is just so much more advantage to the new set up without taking out my center console storage area like I have seen suggested. My effort are at it's ruff draft stage at this point, and will get a cleaning up soon. Besides the old set up can be replaced with minim efforts if I wish to sell the car.
  18. Thanks Drake. Yes you can buy the cassette players. Cassettes are out and digital is in. Even though I am 57 years old, I have come to know that things must change for the better. I have two of them and they don't work. They are a piece of crap. I still have a little work to do on the project. It needs to go in the dash a little more, (1/4 inch or less). My Sony unit was just a little deeper than most units on the market.I have a Kenwood unit that is almost 2 inches shorter, (front to back), and fits much better. I used the Sony unit because it had an ipod adapter kit and remote with it. The ipod adapter is behind the dark smoked Plexiglas.I didn't really take my time because my time is limited in school these days. Sorry about the large picture. I forgot to adjust my camera to e-mail specs. Thanks for the reply
  19. Okay here it is! Updated FM-AM/CD/audio/ipod system in the 88-89 Reatta. Saw lots of threads that indicated it can't be done or leave it along and let it stay original. This is the bomb and very easy to accomplish. No massive wiring involved. Didn't interfere with the touch screen-etc. Besides, the original set up is a pain in the neck and limited in today's technical world . All things must change for the better. 8 tracks, cassettes and the likes were good in their times, now there is digital. Besides, if it didn't work,(console got destroyed), all one needs to do is acquire another vertical center console which are plentiful in the junk yards. They come in Rivieras, Olds Tronatos - etc. and can be painted to match your application. The picture is attached. All inquiries can be addressed at: djbillyt@hotmail.com or call (321) 609-0132. I will respond to those who are interested.
  20. Take the tape off. It looks good without it. Chrome/silver looks great.
  21. Thanks tempest6cyl, thats the kind of advice I was looking for so that I could deside if the project was a go or no go. thanks again
  22. Thanks for the feed back. I had a different direction in mind. What I was talking about was something like T-tops but without the T in the middle. That is, only the section in the middle of the roof, (from front to back & left to right)) would be removable. Instead of two sepreate T-tops, (the left & right) the two tops would be as one section out of the middle of the roof. The original rear glass would remain afixed to the car.
  23. In October of 2007 I dicussed the possibility of converting the hard top Reatta to a removable top, (via telephone with Barney). I gave him a web site that explained the procedure of converting any car to a hard top. He indicated to me that the car would need stiffners in nine different places, just like the convertable Reatta has. Where are these places on the car? We might as well attack it in theory first. Now that the cat is out of the bag, let's put our heads together and make it happen. The procedure didn't remove the entire roof. It left 5-1/2" of roof after the windshied and about 6-1/2" of roof before the back glass. QUOTE: Please lets figue how to make this work and not how it won't work! Holla Back with your positive theories and thanks.
  24. Alternators are plentiful for the v/6 3800, (both used & new with high output). Just be resourceful! I found a newly rebuilt one in the junk yard for $25.00
