  1. Thanks to all for the replies. Jeffn, I think it may have been your car I saw the 17" rims on (if you posted a picture sometime earlier in the forum). If it was, they did look great. I was also curious about the "fond metal" reference and googled it and found an Italian Mfg. of Aluminum and Alloy wheels called Fondmetal. Thanks again for the help! Craig
  2. Thank you Alan for the reply. I have a compressor also, but I will probably not use it because of the possibility of damaging the heater core. I think I read somewhere that they can be a challenge to replace if leaking. Out of curiosity though, how did you connect/seal the air line to the heater hose? Is there a special adaptor for this purpose? Thanks, Craig
  3. My rims have some discoloration and I was curious about cleaning/polishing them. I searched the forum and didn't locate any info. Any recommendations on cleaners/polishes? Do they have a "clearcoat" over the exterior? I have seen some pictures on this forum and elsewhere of aftermarket rims that look great. Anyone know what the limitations are on rim/tire sizes for the TC? I'm thinking anything other than original might through off speedo or sensors. Thanks again!
  4. Greetings, I would like to drain and flush the cooling system of my V6. The service manual describes the use of air pressure to reverse flush the radiator and engine. Has anyone used the inexpensive flush kits (Prestone, etc.) that use the "T" connectors in the heater hose? Do you think they provide a good back flush? The manual also describes a two part cleaner. How about the cleaners you can buy off the shelf (Prestone, etc.) I've also heard of using citric acid? Other thoughts/caveats on the subject? Thanks
  5. I also have a ginger interior and the leather still feels reasonably supple, but I'm sure the whole interior could use some conditioning. Plus there are a couple of the usual driver/door side wear spots I need to do something about. I googled Leatherique and reviewed a couple of sites. The products you mentioned comes in 16oz, 32oz and 1 gal. sizes. For the number of coats you are applying, what size would you recommend? Thanks
  6. Thanks to all for the input! Very useful info. Another brake question. I know the brake fluid is leaking from the area of the hydraulic unit, but have not identified exactly where it's leaking. Are there connections/components/seals, etc. that are more prone to failure in this brake unit? This is my first experience with a forum and I've learned a lot about my "new" TC already. I still need to learn how to use all the features in the toolbars of this forum. Is there a forum for using the forum? LOL (That's the only abbr. I know). If one wants to respond to a reply is it best to attach it to the thread or can you reply directly to that member? Thanks
  7. Hello Everyone, I have a 1990 TC w V-6 and have developed a leak that appears to be coming from the master cylinder. I checked with a local mechanic and was told that the ABS brake system is all interconnected and the master cylinder is not a separate replaceable item. It's pricey to replace the whole system. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks
