  1. Thanks for that.....found a bad comnnection to the switch!!
  2. Hi Doug Thanks so much for the information. Have traced the problem to the interupter on the gearbox. Bad connection and now am back to normal!!! One of these days I must actually re-wire the whole car as I can see many wiring problems on the horizon. As a matter of interst, to my knowledge, it is the only C38 in Australia....was a USA car, LHD, that I imported a couple of years ago.
  3. G'day......does anyone have a wiring diagram for the C38 hydraulic gearbox. It changes up but will not change down via the kick down switch. The switch in the carb is OK as have tested it. Any ideas would be most welcome.
  4. G'day........that carb is a Carter BB off a 1946-1948 Chrysler C38 (6 cylinder 251 cid) It was used with the hydraulic semi automatic gearbox hence the anti stall and throttle kick down switch in the carb.
  5. Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the C38 hydraulic gearbox? Need to trace a fault as it changes up but will not change down with the throttle kick down switch. Have checked the switch in the carb and is OK. Any idaes would be most welcome!
  6. Original plugs fitted when it left the factory were Auto-Lite A5.
  7. Once again VERY MANY THANKS for all your hard work!!!!! This C38 has only just clocked 80,000 miles and is good for many many more. I actually bought the car in Minnesota last year on my annual business trip to the States and had it shipped to Oz. Will be at Hershey in PA this year. All the best
  8. G'day Rusty!! You certainly did me proud with all your info...greatly appeciated. Afraid the Aussies are not that up on the C38 as these were not imported in Australia although a few Dodges of that vintage were....not many surving today unfortunately. Learned to drive on a 1948 DeSoto Fluid drive as a very young teenager in 1950 in South Africa, hence my affection for these cars. My other vintage car is a 1930 Buick model 30-45 which I have completely restored. Once again....MANY THANKS!!!!
  9. Can anyone please supply engine, fluid drive, hydraulic gearbox and dif oil recommendations for a 1947 Windsor C38 that I am rebuilding in Australia. VIN# is 70591140. The locals here are not familiar with this car's lube needs!!
  10. I am looking for a 1930 Buick Series 40 fuel pump. Condition not critical provided casing that bolts to the motor is OK. Do you have available and at what price?
