Took starter out and bench tested. Will spin with 12 volts, but not with 6, solenoid will not plunge on either, but if I push it in under power it will hold. Put it in car and got it spinning the motor over, almost fired. Any ideas on the plunger issues? I have to hold plunger in to get motor spinning. Thank you, Ben

I have a question maybe you could help me with. I just picked up a 1950 Olds 98 with the 303. I am trying to get it started but the starter will not turn over, but I can get the solenoid to plunge in. Probably needs rebuilding, my question is, can someone tell me if it is 6 volt positive or negative ground, may seem simple but this is my first six volt car. Thank you. -Ben
