  1. I know this must have been asked before but I could not find it in any discussions. Need a little help. Is the 1953 10w oil for the transmission for a 53 New Yorker equivalent to a 10w-30 oil of today? The old oil did not seem to have the same viscosity when I compared the two ( Assuming the previous owner put the correct oil in ). Also, consider that the old oil was sitting in the transmission at least 15 years. Can I use the 10w-30? Rookie
  2. My 54 New Yorker had been sitting 15 years and had no brake fuid. I put fluid in but after 4 quarts I realized something was wrong. The brake fuid was flowing back through the vacuum line into the engine. So I guess I need to rebuild the brake booster. I just ordered the Chrysler repair manual but need to wait a fews days for it to come in the mail. It may be of help. While I am waiting, can anyone help with suggestions on what I need to do. Rookie
  3. Thanks gentlmen, I could not find a cheap rental puller. I did find an old wheel with the same bolt pattern. I welded some tubing and large bolt to make a home-made puller. I just need to round up a five pound hammer.
  4. I need the front light cover for a 54 New Yorker. Any suggestions? rookie
  5. Started working on my dad's 54 New Yorker that has been sitting in garage for 15 years. All the hubs are locked (rust). I got the front hubs off to clean, but I don't know how to get the rear hubs off. They don't seem to come off the same as the fronts. rookie
