  1. Hi new guest, are you able to put up some pictures of your project or email some to me to show what you have. I also have a rare '23 fire truck that i'm restoring. aronui@gmail.com
  2. Hi Ken, any chance of a picture of it? I have a 1923 Graham 1 1/2 ton Fire Engine.
  3. WELL DONE ROMAR!!! Isn't it great that an annoying problem such as this can be rectified simply with a bit of discussion. Keep up the good work guys.
  4. "True but the gage will read discharge if not connect to the right pole." You have the model G starter/generator, is that a type 3566 (1918-1923) or the 3566-S (1917-1918)? very similar to each other but using different internal wire, The Graham buses and street car of 1925 onwards had positive earth, model GA or GAC starter/gen using 11865-A cutout. 1916-1922 model G used a 8100-A cutout, I think you probably should have a model 8100-A (1916-late 1922) and that has a Negative earth. It is important to have matching parts for polarity especially the cutout to match whatever starter/gen because the life of the voltage regulator points will be greatly reduced if polarity is transposed. Where can I buy a new drive chain for my starter/gen?
  5. I caught a glimpse of this as I raced past. Maybe a '36.
  6. Thanks, I'll go out there and take a look and keep you posted. If I find it, would you have a chart to tell me the age of the truck? Yea not too sure of those Aussies, their a strange lot aren't they? Ha Haa. good thing i'm from NZ.
  7. Ahh no i haven't looked there yet, thought I'd find out before I peel all the paint off. I'll go out and have a scratch around and see if I can find it. So that'll be RHS facing forward? and on the RHS rail? Asking because steering is on the RHS. Brian.
  8. Thank you Mike, I've since moved most of that stuff away from the truck so I'll get better photos of it. Has anyone else seen an old truck of this vintage? I'm wondering if it's kind of a rare beast or not as I don't find many parts anywhere. I had to put a 1924 scuttle and radiator etc. on it as the '23 parts were rotten, could even be a '22 because cars came by ship to New Zealand and were registered a year later. Just gotta find that chassis number.
  9. Wish I could Mika, I started this restoration in 1992 and that's when i noted those details. I have moved house three times since, that's when we loose things like my book. Someone out there will know, I hope.
  10. Many years ago as I was painting the chassis of my '23 Graham fire engine I wrote all details in a note book including the chassis number, guess what? I lost the note book!!! Now I need the chassis number to register the truck to get it on the road. Where would I look to find the number again? Thanks in advance, Brian.
  11. Hi, dose anyone know of a forum site or link to a Graham Bros truck site? so I can have a chat to other owners of these monsters. Thanks, Brian.
  12. Really great, thank you my friend. Ahh, so you're one of those machinists who might like to wind up us unsuspecting customers , you know those who want their thing made yesterday and it's made in two days and get to wait for two weeks. Ha Haaa. I do the same with my electrical work. Worked on my fire engine for a good 11 hours today, making good progress. Know of any trucks same as mine for parts? Brian.
  13. Machinists are known to be grumpy, expensive, AND slow! I agree with you on that one, I think I would rather go buy a new spring hanger bolt than wait for ever to have one made. Do you have an email address for Romar and Roy Brister please? I'll try emailing Myers and see if they have them. I recently joined up here and haven't yet paid subs in order to get the club mag. How can I put photos on this site to show you the brake parts? Chuck, I might still have your email address, I'll send pics to you. Brian.
  14. Hi gboy, I'll try a machine shop close to me, as an indication for me, what price would those bolts normally cost? They are the spring bolt with the grease nipple on them, fitted through the spring. My wheels are, front and rear, 24". Rear wheels are wood with steel fellows, they had 6" split rims and wedges to hold them onto the wheels. I don't have the split rims or wedges as they rusted out. Some of the brake lever parts I am after as mine rotted out and they have left hand threads. if easy to get from US then I will otherwise can get them made here. My brake drums would be about 13 or 14" dia, internal/external brakes. I'll try to send a pic of my truck, don't know if it'll work or not. No, cant see a way of sending a pic.
  15. Hi, I'm getting closer to getting my '23 Graham fire engine on the road and am wanting to know where I can get a new front spring hanger bolt from, they would be the same as the car front springs. If you know can you give me an email address for the supplier too? as I'm from overseas and don't have access to your local information. Also, I'm in need for two front grease caps (hub caps) for the front wheels, (with GB on them). Anyone know of any rear brake drums or any other parts for one of these rare beasts? I look forward to your reply, Brian.
