Thanks will order them tomorrow
Internet has been down!
-
Is the exhaust manifold gasket the same on a 1931 and a 1934 Buick series 60?
-
I think I will try the straw trick first .
If that doesn't work i will try bobs way.
Thanks
Dave

If I find the syn mark how far back do I have to turn the flywheel to be at the number 1 tdc
-
I've looked and can't find it.
I can find the syn mark for the second set of points but not the one for number one cyl.
It must be very faint.
-
Great I will try that as soon as I get The intake and exhaust gaskets.
should be able to locate the TDC mark with it.
-
Any one know if you can use a timing light to time these cars?
-
Thanks
already removed the side cover and reversed flush the rad.
that's why the manifolds are off . waiting on gaskets,
I can find the second timing mark on the flywheel for the second set of points
but not for the one for top dead center for #1

I bet there's a swap kit for a 700R4 overdrive transmission that you could use. Maybe something like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/trd-0061/overview/make/oldsmobile or http://transmissionadapters.com/early_olds.htm
Alternatively, there's always a Gear Vendors overdrive. www.GearVendors.com
The summit racing adapter only works with the later olds engines.
I also would like to get rid of the cast iron trans. but the only one that makes an adap.. cost about $3600 for the adap. and trans.

Thanks, but I went and pulled the intake and exhaust off and the exhaust manifold came in two peaces.
You could see that it has been crack for some time.
Some one in the past used the old gaskets and some rtv.
Anyway I got the cover off and it looks good .
I didn't find a lot of buildup around the cyl.

Is it possible to remove the water jacket cover without removing the exhaust manifold on a 1931 Buick?
-
1934 master engine trans rear end other mechanical parts
-
I have a 1955 olds slant pan hydramatic trans thats is leaking .
Are they the same as the cad, pontiac trans?
It is leaking from the front of the trans..
-
I get it its the wheel base just have to look harder.
-
-
Thanks that explains a lot. Will try to get the lock out .
-
New to the Buick It looks like the ignition can be turned on without the key and the steering wheel will turn.
What does the key lock do?
-
Any one have a picture of the lock pin and what size drill to use?
The car is not here I need to know what to take.
-
Thanks will try tomorrow
