  1. I am replacing the top wood on my murry body four door and I used flat head stainless screws to attach the metal to the wood because they were closer to flush than round head screws. Should I add a tape about the same thickness between the screws? Any idea what would work would be helpful. Jerry

  2. My new top wood for the Murry A arrived last night. It took a long time to get it from Cubel but the quality is well worth it. I know that at my age I will never live to see it rot out again but am wondering if some kind of water sealer is in order. Jerry

  3. For some reason I can not load a picture. We have a very big show coming up at Kalmazoo, Mi.. They usually have a lot of Model A parts suppliers and my best bet is to attend with my parts problems. Its usually so crowded its hard to talk to anyone.

  4. While the weather is cold its time to restore the parts that can be done inside. I decided to open up the headlamps and see what I need to get them operating. It look like the previous owner didn't need light because the bulbs and cables are missing. The car I am working on is a 1930 Murry body Mode A. The headlamp that I have might not even be correct. I need help with information on the cable and bulbs that I should order. Maybe its time for a Quartz redesign and abvise on Quartz change over would be helpful. I would appreciate any advice that would help me. I tried to post a picture but havn't had any sucess

  5. I have the clutch out and the disc rivets are about a 32nd from the surface and I only have 3/32 preload on the pressure plate. The preload doesn't seem to be enough but the plate is in good condition. Am I in need of a new disc?

  6. I am finally starting to work on a Model A that I bought many year ago and stored. My first step was to remove the engine to check the clutch. When the engine tipped up to slide out of the compartment a lot of oil drained from the pan onto the floor. I have the flywheel off now and their doesn't seem to be a hole that the oil could come from. Is a new rear seal required or what would cause this?

  7. Hi fellow Dodge lovers. I posted earlier that I needed a water pump to replace the one that I turned the threads off the LH thread side. At the time I was recovering from knee surgery and could not get to my spare parts. I bought this car about fifty years ago and some spsre parts were thrown in. Last week I was finally able to get to the parts and thank god a water pump was in the box. I need help with as the spare pump has pack nuts are 1 1/4 threads where as the broken one is 1 1/8. The pump measures out the same except it has different part numbers. The impeller on the new pump is keyed at 1/8 where the broken pump is 3/16. Why is there a difference? I will need a new shaft and in the earlier post someone nentioned Roys or Meyers but I don't have their phone nunbers. I would appreciate any help.

  8. I got the old Dodge out yesterday and as usual the water pump leaked. I decided it was time to repack it and when I started to remove the packing nut the threaded part of the casting of the pump broke off. Does anyone out there have a pump for sale or experienced this before. Maybe a fix is available that I don't know of. Any help would be appreciated. Is an electric pump available? That would not be original but it would solve the leaking problem. Jerry
