  1. Ok, good. I will try to get some PB on there daily, then slowly and gently try and move it. for the foamy coolant, I did notice a drain on the block, rear wards of the distributor, located about middle of the rear of the engine block? Is there any special way or method to flushing the block and radiator out on these old cars? I checked the oil, and it looks fine (not milky), but I will definately change it, just because the car has not been used for about a year.
  2. Hey everyone, I am 22yrs old, and I just found this forum from an internet search. I have a 1940 Buick Roadmaster, in moderate condition. The car has the 320 straight eight, with the 3 peice exhaust manifold. Does anyone recall a door, or a valve in the exhaust manifold to direct hot exhaust gases up around the intake pipes by the carburetor, and then back out the exhaust pipe? I found out about it in my shop manual when reading it at breakfast the other morning. The problem is that I think mine is stuck(rusted firmly) in the position to where it directs the gases up to the intake pipes. A year ago, when I would drive it, the carb would be so hot it would boil the gas right out of it, and the engine would go into vapor lock. I will take a picture of the bimetallic spring, and the lever arm on the outside of the manifold for reference. Is there a way for me to get this shaft moving again without taking the exhaust manifold apart? I applied some PB Breaker penetrating oil on Saturday, and am going to look at it again this Friday. The car is at my parents house, and I am finishing up my last year of engineering. On the enigne, everything is relatively clean, but it looks like the exhaust manifold has never been off. The car runs fine besides this, and is a pleasure to drive around, for short and easy drives. I don't let the car get past 180-190 on the temp gauge. The radiator also has a lot of foam at the top of it when I pull off the cap?? I don't know what this means. Thanks for any insite! -Jeff
