  1. So today, My Father of 74 informs me that one of his buddys that he has been playing cards with every thursday night for about 25 years, has a wife that works in the registry!!! Sometimes it is a real toss up between him and my 16 year old son, LOL. I think he does this on purpous, some kind of payback for my teenage years. I'll let you know how it was done if it gets done. Thanks for all the feedback.

  3. Well, My Father checked with a Packard club here, and was told that the 38 had a sticker not a plate with the Vin number on it. He was told that it was a problem and that they (Packard) went back to a plate in 39. I don't know how true this is, but there is a spot on the firewall just under the body ID # and it looks like there was some type of sticker there at one time. Also, we have the old registration from 1963, and it clearly states a Vin # that cannot be found on the car anywhere. The police filled out form mentioned above using the body # and the registry didn't want to hear that. Of course it would help if I could get my 74 year old Father to get in line at the registry, just answer the questions and stop trying to tell everybody in the building a long story,(yeah, much like this one). Everytime he goes, he comes out with more questions than he went in with. Has anyone had experience with out of state dealers that can issue a Dealers bill of sale? I am under the impression that the registry will take that in liew of a title as long as it is notorized.
  4. My Father has a 38 Packard 120, with no title. He is having a hard time getting it registered in Massachusetts. Seems the registry only sees things in black and white regulations. No room for a grey area. Has anyone had this problem? What can be done about it? Thanks in advance, Pete
  5. I am having trouble with the freeze plugs on a DG 8. They are both seeping coolant and it seems to be getting worse. Where can I get some new ones? Or is it possible to reset these? Thanks in advance, Pete
  6. Now it does, LOL I'm confused. Seems to show up now. Pete
  7. I am missing the entire sending unit for my 31 Dodge DG 8. Do you think these people might have one? How do I contact them? Thanks, Pete
  8. My Father and I are restoring a 38 120. The steering wheel has crumbled in our hands. Does anyone have one that they would like to part with?? Pete
  9. Still haven't seen any pics of this car yet!!
  10. I have a 31 DG 8 that has had the throttle lever broken off at the steering wheel. (see pic) Does anyone know where I can get this lever? Thanks, Pete
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a rear main seal for a DG8 (1931)? I have yet to pull the Tranny, but the oil does come through pretty good. Thanks Pete
  12. Yes Pep, I did exactly as you described, it worked great. It even freed two valves that were stuck open! Thanks, Pete
  13. Just wanted to say "Thanks" to the serveral people here that have helped with parts and info. We have had a week of tinkering and adjusting everything. She now runs like a top. I never realized how fussy a 6 volt system could be. Not alot of room for error, LOL. Anyway, she now runs like a top and I am planning on putting on a few miles before putting her away for the winter. Thanks Again, Pete MacKay Brooklyn, CT.
  14. What is the difference between the DG and the DH? Is it more than the engine? Just curious
  15. Hi Jeni, I don't know. I assume so as roads were bad and spare were a much needed commodity. They probably were an option. This would be the place to ask though. There is some very knowledgable people here. Would like to see some pictures of your car though. Pete
  16. Thanks for the advice. I will be at it next week. I have everything else done and ready to go. Hopefully next weekend I will have it running! I will let you all know how I make aout. Thanks, Pete
  17. Larry, I'd be happy to trade. My home e-mail is pcmackay@myeastern.com. Thanks, Pete
  18. I have a 31 Coupe DG8. I do not know how long it has been sitting, I bought it in April of this year. I was told the oil pan was dropped and screen cleaned etc. I have looked up through the drain plug and all looks very clean. I recently used a pressurized tank to force oil up through the oil pump, hping to get some oil up into the engine before turning it over. I drained the oil to repump it up into the engine and found it to be very black. I am concerned that the engine has sat to long and the oil in upper parts of the engine has turned to sludge. I have had several old timers tell me to force kerosene through the system until it come out rather clean. Then it would be okay to switch to oil and change that several times to get the kerosene out. Has anyone ever done this? What are your thoughts? The only other thing I guess would be to pull the engine and have it boiled out. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Pete
  19. I have gotten the (4) bolts needed. Still working on the shutter assembly. Thanks for the lead jquam. Pete
  20. I have (2) pis to post here. I have the wrong thermostat assembly on the forward top of my head. As you can see by the pic, the outlet for the hose is in the center of the thermostat. I am looking for a thermostat like in the second picture. As you can see it the outlet is offset and lines up with the radiator. Anyone have one of these they want to sell, or know where I can get one? Thanks, Pete
