  1. Hello. I have just bought a 65 Olds 98 2 dr htp at a budget price. I know very little about GM cars, and am seeking to expand my knowledge of what's right and wrong about my car. My car definitely won't be perfect because I didn't pay enough, but I trust the seller that she will be solid and a good looker. I have images at HERE. The seller/restorer tells me that the engine and air filter case were painted in colours close to original. Is that correct, or has he got it wrong? On the front fender it has '425 cu'. Is that a correct feature, or an add-on? How about the interior? It doesn't look out-of-place, but I am assuming that it's not correct fabric/design. I have bought the car without the Cragar wheels, so she is now riding the original wheels and hubcaps. Thank you for your authenticity comments. RS
  2. Hello. Any 41 Oldsmobile, or possibly 41 GM, owners reading this? I have a 41 Olds upon which I am trying to get the wiper system functional. Does anyone know whether the wiper arms should be pointed outward or inward (pointed toward windshield divider) when parked? From the images I see upon the Internet, it looks like inward parking. Unfortunately, if I set up the links this way then the vacuum pump jams. There's a choice of 2 pegs for the link which operates the driver's wiper; the passenger link must use the other link. I can only get the driver's (left) side working if I have the wiper arm parked pointed outward. Then there's the passenger side. I don't seem to be able to reach across to the peg on the vacuum motor with the long link/rod of the passenger wiper. Does anyone know what the correct Part No. should be for the long link? This whole problem feels strange and I am wondering if I have wrong links or wrong vacuum motor installed in the car. Thank you for any advice or information. I feel that I have been a little vague, but I'm not fully understanding the problem. Heat wave here. 36 deg.C and I am upside down under the dashboard. RS
  3. My Olds and I are in UK, just east of Southampton. I had to order my Olds brake parts from Kanter and pay a fortune in import tax (as is so often the case). Hoping to emigrate stateside later this year, but that's another story! Pep Boys sound like Maccess here, except Maccess cater more to new vehicles and only sell to trade, but I have an account. RS
  4. Hello sir. Thank you. OK, we don't have Pep Boys here. Is it a brake parts shop? BUT, I will follow your shop recommendation and take the screw to a company here named HypHose. They are a hydraulic parts specialist. I should have thought of them before, but your kind reply made me think of them now. Thank you. RS
  5. Hello. I am preparing my 1941 Oldsmobile 76 2 door sedanette for sale. She needed a new master cylinder and flexible brake hoses, all of which I have fitted. I was about to start the brake bleeding process when I noted that the brake bleed nipples are of a design that I have not encountered before. Rather than a typical rounded nipple (which will accommodate a flexible waste hose), the 'nipple' ends in a large wrench-fit hexagon and is internally threaded. My suspicion is that this nipple is designed to accommodate an externally threaded short metal pipe. The other end of my imaginary pipe would then be pushed into a length of flexible hose to lead into the fluid waste jar. Does anyone know where I can buy my imaginary pipe, OR a replacement set of bleed nipples that will still screw into the Oldsmobile's wheel cylinders? Thank you RS
  6. I'm interested in purchasing a 73 NYB 4 door hardtop and a 76-8 NYB 4 door hardtop. I'm not hurried. Seeking excellent original examples, low mileage with power windows and seats. PS - does anyone know how to place a Wanted advertisement in WPC News by online means? Best wishes. RS
