  2. I bought this car mainly for the options, 430 engine 400 trans, tilt wheel etc. Sold the "project car" now I find no use for this oldie but goodie. Its a life-long Arizona car with super clean sheetmetal. Chrome and trim not pitted up.Nice bumpers and grill. Motor sounds strong,no smoking or noises. The car runs and drives, goes into gear fine. Fully loaded, but has been sitting since 2002.My investment is $570.00. I will take the best reasonable offer. Located in sunny Mesa Arizona. Inquiries please call the cell at 602-361-3616. Looking for a quick sale to reclaim some back yard.

  4. Thank you all for the help. Now more questions... were the optional 15" wheels also a 4 lug pattern? And any idea how many 4 speed cars were produced?. I guess I need to rebuild the Holley, its leaking gas everywhere. I thought this car sat only about 6 months, now I understand it was well over a year. Still not bad, but that carb must be gummed up.
  5. Actually I bought it, now Im trying to figure out just what I did buy. Its a convertible, 215 motor with a 4 speed. It also has itty bitty 13" 4 lug wheels. I cant seem to find much info on this model. I did read that a 4 speed was an option. Im hoping this was not a 3 speed converted. It has power steering, brakes, and I believe the top is power, I think I saw a pump back there. It has an Offy intake and some huge looking Holley carb. Its been painted, but in the same red color, with white top and interior. Anybody have production numbers?? And.. any way to change the 4 lug to 5 lug wheels?.At least the wife likes this one....
  6. HI EVERYONE, THANKS FOR THE TIPS ON UPGRADING THE BRAKES AND SUSPENSION ON THE 55 SPECIAL. I JUST DROVE HOME A NICE OLD 1968 BUICK ELECTRA 2DOOR TODAY. GOT IT FROM THE GRANDSON OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER. COULDNT PASS ON IT, ITS GOT A REBUILT 430, SOME TYPE OF AUTOMATIC, AND POWER EVERYTHING. NOW IM THINKING, DO I MESS WITH THE STOCK AND RUNNING FINE 55 STUFF.. THAT 430 WOULD REALLY FILL THE ENGINE BAY. I GUESS I COULD SWAP IN THE TILT WHEEL, AND ITS GOT THE FRONT POWER BENCH SEAT.(2 DOOR). I THINK MAYBE THE LARGER BRAKES WOULD WORK ON THE 55, THEY ARE DRUM THOUGH. ANYWAY ITS A SOLID DESERT CAR FROM HERE IN MESA AZ. YARDS OF SHEETMETAL.WELL ANY IDEAS OUT THERE? WORST CASE I PULL THE MOTOR/TRANS, AND GIVE THE REST AWAY HUH..
  7. Hello all, brand new to the site. I just purchased a rock solid 1955 Special, 2 door post. In order to make it a bit more family friendly, I need to upgrade the brakes and steering. I know there are multiple options for Chevy and Ford, but what is currently the best set up for the Buick. I really dont want to do a subframe, maybe the ifs set up. Im open to all options. Thanks in advance.
