  1. Hello Mr. Andren You have got a point there - my name is Knut Samuelsen and I live in Oslo Norway. I am mostly a Packard man ( 1941 and 1949 ) but I started out restoring a 1939 46c Buick in 1975. Now I am back in Buick Country with a 62 4367. It is a lovely car but I have had a lot of trouble with unbalance in the front end. The problem is now partly solved as we were able to finally balance the front wheels by rotating the tires so the rims and the tires seemed to "cooperate". In order to get a final and good solution I really need good and undamaged rims and I will then buy premium good tires to go with it. It is my feeling that these cars are a bit choosy regarding the front wheels or am I wrong ? I will be extremely grateful if you can help me out. Please let me know a little more. Sincerely Knut S By the way: I am a civil engineer and BCA 2381
  2. Want to buy NOS rims for 1962 Special / Skylark.
  3. Did install NOS idler arm - helped a lot. Will now install rebuilt steering gear - think this will take care of the rest of the problem. Thank you all for showing interest and being helpful.
  4. I have had the front end aligned. I also have the vibrations when I shift into neutral and the engine idles while doing 50 mph going downhill.
  5. The vibrations are felt in the steering wheel. I have new wheelbearings and idler arm. Everything should be tight. Can a worn steering gear be a source ? or balljoints ? Tires seems to be fine - they are all brand new. Have also tried balancing with wheels on the car.
  6. Yes, I have tried 3 sets of tires - radials and bias. Tie rod ends etc are OK. I will check the ball joints as you suggest.
  7. I am owner of a 1962 Skylark conv. cp - a lovely car that has given me much joy and pleasures.BUT - and this really bugs me : When I reach 50 mph the front end shakes as if there is an unbalance in the front wheels. This occurs only at 50 mph. I have tried to balance and balance - with the wheels on or off the car. Tried several rims and different tires. Wheel bearings are new, brakes redone. When I had a NOS idler arm it did change a little for the better. Have any of you out there any experience with maybe a worn steering gear ? (power steering on this car )Ball joints ? Am grateful for input of any kind. Sincerely Knut S
  8. Can anybody give any info regarding restauration of the aluminum plate that surrounds the switches on the instrument panel ? Any help is appreciated.
  9. Want to buy 1962 Skylark fuel sending unit and also pinion and ring gear ( 1:3.36) Also any differensial parts. Must be NOS.
  10. Can anyone tell me if the fuel sending unit for a 1962 Skylark is used for several other cars ? Buicks or any other GM models ? Are they hard to find ?
