  1. Bill - I understand about the digital photos. I took these and they are not retouched. It's not as easy to get close and clear, I took about 40 digitals ending up with about 15 that were good for email. You can usually do a better job with a 35mm. This car is mine and she still turns heads when I drive despite some of the aging process that is inevitable with a 16-yr old car. I bought her because I wanted a great looking car - a corvette would have been my next choice, but on my budget, the Reatta fit at the time. Christine
  2. Thanks Randy. I know. I just wish I could convince my husband to let me keep her. But, I my money is my money and I'll spend it so I can drive her again (at least for a while!) I know we talked about a year ago - if I don't find anyone local to buy her, I'll be taking her to Indiana where my folks are. Not to add to your collection, but if I do so, she'll be closer to you if you'd like to see the car.
  3. Thanks! Westminster is around the corner! I'm grateful. I've sent a message so I'll hope to hear from him soon. Christine
  4. See last previous thread for another picture. Takes me a while; still working with dial-up. I have a folder of digital photos and can direct you to my online pics if you are interested in seeing more pictures.
  5. I have multiple pictures - if it's my car you want to see. How do I post the photos on the forum? Sorry to not be up to speed on this ....
  6. This is the first I've heard that the instrument cluster could be repaired. I was driving along when smoke spiraled up from the dash area. I assumed that it was burned to a crisp and therefore I would have to replace. What happens to the digital odometer function if its replaced?
  7. Well - husband says - it's gotta go. Need an instrument cluster as a repair-anyone have one? Any suggestions/offers? +178K miles - approx 55K on new engine. Metro DC area/in MD.
  8. Jack: I'm selling my 1990 coupe; it needs a little work. It still drives great. I'm originally from around the Chicago area ... maybe we could work out something. The car and I are in Maryland. I'm not sure if the dashes in your email are correct or if you meant "dots/periods". I posted more detail on the car earlier so I'm not sure if you saw the post. I can email digital pictures if this would help you. Christine
  9. ... I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your post. We had a bad thunderstorm here last night and I don't often have time to do anything personal at work. I am really a newbie at this so I'm sorry for not posting more information. I'd really like my car to go to someone who will drive it - I am preparing an spec sheet of detail so that anyone who is interested can get the facts they need. I'm not out to make a $$ here - I just want to be able to find someone who wants the car. She's served me well - Here is some detail ... if you are truly interested, I'll privately email you. 1990 Reatta Coupe (sunroof)- Purchased September 1992. I am the 2nd owner of the car. Mileage - I rechecked last night, it's 197,000+ Location - Germantown, Maryland (near Frederick, Maryland - Metro Washington DC area) but I don't drive it in commuter traffic (I take a commuter train). Details: New engine installed at 127,000 miles. Has performed beautifully. I feel the car body is in great shape - I still get compliments and "what car is this" when I'm filling up. A few road related chips in the hood (unavoidable), a few areas where the clear coat is giving out. Tires are about 3 years old - only 18,000 miles on them. A/C has been converted to New freon. New catalytic converter and front brake rotors early this year. We have emmission testing here - it was testing in December and passed with flying colors even before I replaced the catalytic converter. I do have all my service records - oil faithfully changed at 3,000 miles. Interior is good - though sunwashed carpet behind seats. Needs new headliner. Installed an aftermarket AM/FM CD player that even has a remote. (I did keep the factory installed unit. I replaced it because the cassette deck repeatedly quit working despite repairs.) Other repairs needed: Sunroof not working. Bad shoe on one side. Couldn't come to terms with the price quoted to keep original. (It's pricey around here.) Instrument cluster burned out on me in late April. I've tried to find one my mechanic couldn't find one. Burn out affected the main blower in engine compartment - the blower itself is not damaged - believe it could be a ground or a heat damage issue with the wiring. As I mentioned in my first post - I do have the GM service manual for the car. I recognize the challenges with the instrument cluster and I haven't fully explored other possible repair issues but I'm willing to negotiate a price. Family illness is the reason I'm replacing the Reatta. If I had more resources ($$ and time) I would ask your help to find the parts I need. If you are interested, I'll answer other questions and provide more detail. I did drive the car - most of her miles are road miles either driving to Indiana (where I grew up) or to North Carolina where my sister lives. This car is a great road car as I'm sure you know.
  10. I appreciate the responses -- forgive me, I'm a newbie with forums. I'm working up some detailed information but can advise the following: Car is located in Germantown, Maryland (near Frederick, MD - metro Washington, DC area). I'm the second owner of car. No body damage; mechanical repair needed - instrument cluster, affected wiring of blower in engine compartment. Most other engine/mechanical aspects of the car are in good to great shape. I drive it daily though this has been cut back because I'm concerned about what might happen next because of the instrument cluster. I'll respond privately to anyone interested in more detail and negotiating price.
  11. It is with sadness that I am giving up my Reatta. However, I refuse to trade it in or have it sold to a wholesaler. I'd rather have someone who loves the car as much as I do contact me to negotiate a reasonable sale price. I've owned the car since 1992 ... I have all my repair records as well as the full 1990 Buick-Issue 1990 Service Manual. I wish I could keep her - but it's not possible and I don't want the car to "just sit". She has 178,000+ miles (mostly highway - an excellent highway car) and still achieves over 23mpg. If you are interested, please email and I will share other information. She is available for sale now. ... I kept waiting for GM to bring the Reatta back. I just don't understand why because it is a great car!
