Thanks Dave for your information on the shift levers. I focused my efforts in that area and took them apart today and discovered that one spring washer was worn and broken. I used a thicker washer to take up the slack and have tested the vehicle and it is shifting fine. Thanks for all your help.

I have a 4dsd and am quite certain that it had some type of emblem. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Rick I will try this. Also for your info. this problem mainly occurs when the vehicle is under load, i.e. accelerating through the gears. When the vehicle is parked it shifts smoothly.

I am restoring a 1940 Packard 110, 4dsd, and it is missing the trunk emblem and it has been painted over. I have no idea what it looks like. The mounting holes on the center of the trunk are 3 1/4 inches apart. Does anyone have photos that could help? The emblems I have seen are long and narrow shields that don't appear to be that wide.

My 1940 Packard 110 column shifter gets stuck when shifting from 1st-2nd gear. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
