  2. RV--I disagree with your # 7 reason..I deal in old cars and especially older wagons..and I have found out thru trial and error that the country folk and or the older widows, divorcees are easy to deal with..in fact I would rather.

I have been active in this "hobby" since 1955, when I purchased my first

    old car..(at 15)..a 29 buick..since then its been uphill /downhill.

your # 3 reason is dead on the money..check with the local small town prints--there are some super deals out there..Great point in # 1 the chase (journey )

is as much fun as the destination..I am retired and at 66 go on many a wild goose chase..but a lot of time the goose is worth chasing. Jim keenan -- easley so. carolina..rural, lot'sa barns, several old widows

all part of the the hunt..and I am chauvinistic !

  3. I am currently not a aaca member, but have been in the past. I attend

several aaca events each year with friends who are members. One thing that is noticable is the amount of younger men and women who are into the old car

hobby/lifestyle..but remember that thier idea of a old /antique car is

something from the 70's or 80's..which in reality are already 25 yrs old car.

just as "we" thought back in 1955 about the model A's..Its your age showing

  4. John-you hit the nail on the head with your comments about the "reverend"

JJ and his negative comments...I5 /20 years ago lot'sa people bought into that excuse but not today..it wont fly.. I was in NO two years ago, when my son first moved there...ruuff area he had to live in, shootings, etc..I went and got him out of there, and he settled in SC at a college in Conway..But the U of NO gave him the desired schollar ship in music ..so he went back in June..

He and his extened family, left before the storm hit..(thank god ) but as I mentioned before..they lost every thing other than what they could pack into a

escort sedan..Three weeks ago we all had a good weekend togather in NO..

good town --(as a visitor)..wonder what the rest of the world and the African American community thinks now..after watching all the broadcasts on TV and CNN..."looters"- shoot em..

now off the negatives for a bit..three weeks ago I spotted a nice 56 Buick 2 dr post sedan Blue /white (special?) near the new Walmart in New Orleans, near the warehouse districk--with a 4 sale sign on it ?? ring any bells ?

excuse my mispellings..only had 6 years of HS..Kids today are lucky they only have to go the HS 4 yrs. (lol)

  5. please remember that all the victims of this storm, were advised

very early about the approaching situation..some could not leave, some choose not to leave..but all were advised..including my grown son, his family and extended family..he returned to us here in sc late last friday, 6 of them in all plus pets--his collector car (1980 volare) was left behind and his modest home destroyed in the water, and probably by now looted.

I was visiting him three weeks ago in NO and really enjoyed the town, the people seemed to be very nice and friendly..a great trip.

Imagine what people all over the world now think of the USA..when they see the

situation growing worse...especially the crime situation.

I'm will be putting two of my very nice later model collector cars on Ebay..with any profit going to the Red Cross, hopefully they will be sold-before sunday.

  8. this sounds like a typical scheme that is attempted by oversea buyers

they always have a client that they do business with..or they "represent"

The scam goes like this..the respondant will appproach you with a offer above your asking (selling)price--stating that he needs to send you this extra money

to faciltate the sale, or the shipping of the car...He will ask you for permission to send a OVER SEA CHECK-- with the added funds to be returned via Western Union..immediatly--which he/she will claim the shipper needs before the pick up of the car---DONT DO IT..ONCE YOU hand WESTERN UNION $$$$ ---its history..YOU have to aware of this scam..E-BAY HAS BEEN TRACKING IT FOR YEARS..AND THEY CONSTANTLY prompt their regular customers to beware...I sell cars. campers..parts on ebay and currently have a perfect rating at 100% I have approached many times by Oversea buyers/agent with the disposable email address's..Ebay has a way of blocking these perps from buying and or bidding..But YOU HAVE to be the vigilant one..and be aware of it...dont buy their line of BS *** Now in closing let me state tha not all over sea or state-side buyers are involved..I ship parts and have on occasions shipped cars oversea..with never a problem...

Check your respondants ebay rating (if he has one )
