  2. It only took me 17 years to finish my 1920 Cadillac Phaeton. She is a beauty! I do need the following to put on the finishing touches: 2 top props, 4 thumb nuts. Two for the windshield and two for the top connection to the windsheild posts, 2 6-8 volt, 32 c.p., two contact base, daylight blue lamps for spot lamps, the rod & shaft about 27"(?) long with a single and a double bellcrank at each end. This assembly mounts into brackets on the back of radiator and connects the headlight dipping mechanisms and the rod to the dash control. Finally, the "fill close & drain" mechanism which mounts to the bottom passenger side water pump and the shaft that runs up to the indicator on the upper side of the pump. Let me know if you have an item(s) to sell or that you would allow me to borrow to cast parts or make patterns. Any help would be wonderfull! Would provide security deposit. Thank You.
  3. Hi Tom! I have a restored 1920 Cadillac. To Remove the wheel: Remove the hubcap. Use the box end wrench that came with the car. Otherwise you will need a large wrench to fit on the "nut face" of the hubcap. Protect the hub cap from damage with a cloth. You will see the casillated end of the axle which fit into the same on the hub. Look for the locking wire/ring running around the exterior of the hub& axle and remove. Use a large nail or small screw river to lift one end at the break and work it onto the face of the hub and slide it off of the hub. Make sure the car is supported. Pull out the axle. Remove the lock nut, washer and adjusting nut. Pull off the wheel ( it is heavy ) and be careful not to let the outer bearing drop. Forgot! If there is a lubricator on the side of the hub cap do remove before cap. You should join the Cadillac Lasalle Club . Good Luck! Ed LaBelle
  4. 1920s Vansicklen 75mph speedometer w/ triptic & Elgin watch attached. Have a problem with mating the female fine threaded angle drive to the male threaded barrel at the side of the spedo case. Barrel seeems to be cast with the spedo frame. The barrel and angle drive threads are pot metal. Threads look o.k., no cross threads. Can make the threads work at only one spot that causes the spedo cable connection to point at the floor boards & away from the firewall. Cable too short. Are the threads just worn. Any ideas?
