  1. He stepped up and agreed to finance the repairs. Neither he nor I have been able to find a source for the windshield until this post (thanks). the fender, hood and roof are all repairable but that hasn't been done yet because the windshield has to come out to fix the roof....it has a hole punched in it at the roof-line...and it is not likely to come out intact or re-usable. I actually don't mind the hole and am still driving the car but it's not nearly as appealing driving it with fixed sheet metal and no windshield.
  2. Jim -- I sent you an email earlier about the windshields. I'm not that far away and you, apparently, have an airplane....if I cover 100LL will that give me a windshield? I'm in southern Iowa half-way between DSM and OMA (at AIO) -- or, if I fly up will you credit me for the 100 LL I have to burn? (33g/hr). Reatta damage occurred while it was parked in front of my hangar and I was away in the airplane...another guy was turning onto the ramp to the hangar across the way and drug the wing over my hood, windshield and roof. Thanks
  3. Good morning all -- My 1989 Blue Reatta sustained minor damage a while back after being struck by an airplane (short story, not that exciting...runway incursion, not in-flight accident). Damage was confined to scuffing the hood and roof but not before it punched a hole in the very top edge of the windshield. Problem now is that finding replacement glass has proved more difficult than imagined. If anyone knows of a source for replacement glass or location of a windshield in great shape, sans hole at the roof line, I would love to acquire it and would appreciate any help you can provide. Also, over the course of time, I have lost the "U" and the "K" from my tail-light letters. I would love replacement letters if they are available somewhere. I've also thought about removing the remaining letters and painting all the indentations dark but I'm not sure that would add anything to the aesthetics...anyone know of any Reattas with painted letters on the light rather than the metallic ones Buick installed? Finally, the entire tailight assembly seems to have perma-fog. I had it buffed one time and that seemed to help bring some luster to it -- for about 10 minutes -- but did nothing for the foggy condition or even a longer term brightness. Does anyone have a fix for this? Is it still possible to buy the entire assembly from GM and have it treated so it doesn't fog and become dull? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
  4. Dug out my project 1969 Riviera and now need either a donor car or parts. Need probably a lot more stuff than listed here, but the obvious is as follows: driver's door (skin or whole door); passenger front fender; rear bumper. Looking for, optimally, rust free and dent free parts (the ones on the car can be straightened, I just don't want to do it). Would take the whole car and don't care about condition of body panels other than those I've identified. Motor/trans/interior/etc., immaterial. If you have anything you think I might be able to use, please price it to me inclusive of shipping to my shop in Atlantic, Iowa....I know, it's a pain in the a** but one of us has to do it and one of us is potentially getting paid for parts, so the payee can arrange shipping. If you want to complain about my terms, please move on to the chronic complainers string (where-ever that might be) and please don't waste time being cute or silly here -- it won't be either and my kids are grown and gone so whatever patience I had to begin with is gone a long time ago.
  5. I need a hood, windshield and front driver's fender for 89 blue reatta. any extras laying around close to southwest iowa?? thanks.
  6. I am missing the "U" and the "K" from my tail-light "BUICK" monikor on my venerable blue '89 as the unfortunate result of spousal indifference to the automatic car wash (weather strip isn't what it used to be and I believe in-car shower will discourage further attempts at freshening the exterior dirt by said spouse in said manner). Buick garage tells me....when I went to pick up a new glove box latch they ordered for me for the car....that the letters are no longer in production. Does anybody know where these letters might be acquired? Thanks jmtrewet@yahoo.com
  7. Been so long since I posted here that they forgot me so I had to re-register. Formerly known as TamaSioux (or tsioux.....don't really remember know). Anyway, EDBSO, you had several posts a while back about audio upgrades for the reatta. My '89 has the marginally functional cassette deck --- which is to say, not really functional at all other than the occasional burp or beep and aimless wandering of the drive wheels and up and down motion of the playback head. in my quest to premiumize the sound abilities of the otherwise remarkable car, I took it to a radio shop for installation of a CD changer and replacement of all of the speakers. Four days after promised re-delivery of the car to my possession from the aforesaid shop, I received a call saying they could do nothing with either the speakers (as they were seperately amped in a manner not compatible with speaker replacement) or the CD changer.....for reasons related to the antenna hook-up or some other variant not known to me, and that I should waste no time in picking up the car. At this point, all systems on the car, excepting the tape-deck and power funtion of the antenna, are fully operational and I would like to integrate a CD player (or changer) to the system and replace all of the speakers with some that at least do not have 15 years and 160,000 miles worth of wear on them. Can you provide me with some way to identify your previous post in the search feature OR a plan of attack with regard to sound enhancement? As always, I await your reply with undying gratitude. Yours, jmtrewet@yahoo.com (a/k/a/TamaSioux or tsioux)
  8. Having finally decided to do something with my 1956 Special, I commissioned my local mechanic to remove and rebuild the carburator since i knew that that was the primary obstacle to engine operation since i last drove the beast (off the trailer and into a garage several hours after purchase ---- several years ago). He informed me that it was some kind of Carter carb but could not identify which one and the NAPA book only listed a Rochester for the '56 322 Nailhead. I have found in my internet ramblings since receipt of this news from the mechanic that both the Carter carb and the Rochester carb were supplied in '56 in the 2 barrel variety on the 322 AND I found the recently listed Rochester version on Ebay at about the cost of a kit for the heretofore unknown model of Carter of which I currently possess. Anyway, here's my question.......Does anybody know which Carter carb was stock on the '56 Special with the 322 engine? If so, can you provide me with the correct number so I can get the kit....or, is there a place I can send mine as a core and get a rebuilt replacement (mine has a lot of corrosion and i don't know that the draw tubes are save-able---- unless the come in the kit, I may be screwed on re0using them)? If not, will the Rochester variety as is currently on ebay be a direct replacement in terms of manifold (I'm guessing yes on this one) pattern and linkage (not real sure on the linkage queation)? Thank you in advance for your help. My direct email is jmtrewet@yahoo.com.
