  1. Thanks, appears to be a reasonable answer. As a follow-up, how difficult is it to replace the fuel injection, i.e., $500+ worth of effort and parts?
  2. I recently had more than $1,000.00 in repair work performed on an '88 Electra T-Type, (200k + miles.) Work included: timing chain replacement, oxygen sensor replacement, tune-up, oil change. After the work was completed, there was no significant improvement in the car's performance, albeit the "Service Engine Soon" light was extinguished. The car was driven for 2 1/2 weeks and died on the highway. It was towed back to the repair shop & Now they tell me that the fuel injection needs to be replaced at an additional estimated cost of more than $500.00. Maybe my expectations are too high, but it seems to me that the mechanic should have disclosed this while performing all the other engine work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. My Son's Grand-Mother, by way of his Uncle, has passed down a 1988 Buick Electra T-Type to him. Top of the line vehicle, with all the bells & whistles factory installed for that model & year. Problem is that unless the car broke down, it never had any scheduled maintenance performed. Amazingly, the vehicle is still running at 205,000+ miles old. Excepting a persistent "Service Engine Soon" indicator light, stutters during acceleration, inoperable electric mirrors, and non-important exterior cosmetic issue (clear-coat); the car appears to be in relatively good condition. My questions, to those of you that KNOW are: 1. Will GMC/Buick honor all the TSBs that have not been performed on the car? 2. How does one go about having them perform these services? 3. Whom do I contact to obtain all required TSB services? 4. What are the estimated costs? 5. Where can I obtain FREE Service & Repair Manuals electronically &/or in hardcopy format. I truly would like to restore the car due to its' sentimental value, so any & all guidance is appreciated.
