  1. Hi, Would anyone happen to have a set of Buick Super Sport Wheels? They were made from 1971-1972 and were either 14x6 or 14x7. They sort of looked like Oldsmobile wheels and they were a gray color with chrome trim rings. Chris
  2. Hi everyone, I recently finally tracked down and bought the optional 70-72 Buick accessory compass. I was wondering if anyone here also had one and could answer some questions: was the compass supposed to have a light in it? Mine has a button on the bottom front but inside the back tube it is hollow and I do not see anything for a light in it. Was the compass supposed to have fluid in it? Lastly, does anyone restore compasses? Chris

  4. Thanks. I've actually bought a couple of items from Joe in the past (shorty console, clock, etc.) and sent him an email about the belts but have not heard back from him yet. I guess I'll give him a phone call if I don't get a response soon.
  5. Hello, Does anyone here have for sale or know where I can locate a complete set (lap, shoulder, & rears) of deluxe sandalwood seat belts for my 1971 Buick Skylark? Chris
  6. Up for sale I have a '71-'72 Buick Skylark/GS gauge (flat lens) that I got as part of a package deal and do not need (it came out of a '72 although you could change to a pointed lens for a 1970 model). This is the fuel gauge with the temp, oil, lights etc. It still has the harness plug in the back (though cut at the other end so you would just wire it in). I would like to get $20 for the gauge which will include shipping anywhere in the U.S. I do take Paypal as well (also accept check and money orders).
  7. I was hoping that someone here could perhaps help me locate a Buick from my family's past. The car I am looking for is my father's 1953 Buick 4 door Special. It had a dark green exterior, light green top, and a green interior. My dad traded the car in 1976 to a Buick dealer on 86th street and 18th Ave. in Brooklyn (the dealer is no longer there and my dad traded the car for a 1977 Buick Regal). The car also had a straight 8 engine. I included two pics of the car from 1976 (that's me at 1 year old with my mother - my dad used to pick her up with the car from her job on Wall Street in Manhatten). I would love to know if the car still exists and to see pics of it today. Any help would certainly be most appreciated

  10. Hi everyone, Just this week I purchased a 1970 GS hood for my 1971 Skylark. The hood is missing the hood scoop grills and I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get them. Year One has them advertised for $99 each (ouch!), and Poston has them advertised for $38 each. Has anyone ordered any hood scoop grills from either of the two mentioned companies? I'm in the process now of getting the GS hood ready to go out to the shop for prep work. I took off the original '70 hood lip with the chrome (pitted), and I'm replacing it with a hood lip from a '71 with excellent chrome. I did have one other question - what is the best way to have the old paint (and some surface rust) removed? Sand blasting, glass beading, or media blasting? Most places I know sand blast but I heard if they use too much pressure they could warp the hood or break the small metal tabs for the hood scoop grills. Thanks in advance for any answers! Chris
  11. Hi John, Thank you very much for your help - I called Bill Hirsh yesterday and was able to order the paint that I needed. Cheers, 71Sky
  12. Hi, Would anyone happen to know where I could purchase quart cans of Buick engine high temperature paint? I need the red used in 1971 and do not want to buy spray cans. I also need the black engine compartment paint in quart form. CARS, INC in New Jersey had the quarts listed but they are sold out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 71Sky
  13. Hi! Just wanted to update everyone who posted a response to my question about my Skylark. I was finally able to adjust the timing and that did the trick! Thank goodness, I was really starting to get worried for a while. Thanks again to everyone who posted! 71Sky
  14. Thank you everyone for responding to my request for some help figuring out why I am experiencing a power loss in my 1971 Buick Skylark. The electrical connections all seem good. The first step I am going to take when I work on the car again next Sunday is to check the timing. If this doesn't work then I will check into the exhaust system. I mistakenly said the new Ignitor electronic ignition was put in the coil - this is wrong, it went inside the distributer. I also changed the original coil when I added the electronic ignition to the Pertronix high performance coil. Thanks again to everyone who responded and I will post my results with the car after I work on it next Sunday. 71Sky
  15. Hi everyone, I was hoping that someone might be able to help me out with the problem I am having with my 1971 Buick Skylark. Recently, I had the original dual exhaust switched from 2inch to 2.5inch with flowmasters. I also replaced the original points system with the ignitor electronic ignition (sits inside the coil). My problem is after having this work done on the car, it actually has less power! I'm not trying to race the car, but I clearly remember before having this work done that when I pressed the gas pedal down that the acceleration was much quicker. Can anyone please help me? 71Sky
