I've had it for sale for about 8 months! I suppose that means the price is too high. I have $5400 in the car, and I was selling it for $3500.

Thanks for all the info. I didn't realize these cars were so difficult to sell. Instead of driving it occasionally on nice days, maybe we'll just drive the tires off and sell it for nothing. (can you tell I'm frustrated with this?)

I had a buyer for my 1988 Reatta, but he just called me this morning to say his mechanic says the brakes could just go out without warning. Also, the mechanic said it was extremely expensive or impossible to replace the brake pump or change to a more reliable brake system. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to tell this buyer? We negotiated it for $3500. I have it listed on this forum.

Sometimes the screen is off, and sometimes on. Lately most of the time it is off. Before I order one, is there something I can do to test it, in case it is something simple (fat chance, huh?) Also, I am getting a diagnostic message, but I can't read it because the screen is off. It comes and goes when I brake and accelerate. Fluid levels?

Here is an update on the repairs. As you read, I only had them flush the brake system. The rest - I just said "no". I had the air conditioning repaired for around $100 at a shop that specializes in that. Then I fixed the light situation myself with the help of this forum. I replaced the photo cell and left switch pod, and everything works fine. Cost - around $40 plus my time (and a few scraped knuckles) . Then I replaced the lights myself. Most of them cost around $2.50 except the front cornering light. I had to go to a dealership to buy that (not the one I mentioned before). That light was around $15. They replaced it for free. We are monitoring the leaks, but it is very minor after my local mechanic friend tightened the transmission pan bolts. I contacted three Cleveland tv stations, but no one replied. This is a huge dealership and they advertise quite a bit. This has been quite a lesson - I just feel bad for people who say "yes" to repairs like that. It probably happens all the time.

Well, I did it. I replaced the photocell and the left pod switch. (and I didn't break anything - almost, though) It worked! I had lights on the shift indicator and the dimmer switch made the lights brighter and dimmer. Then I put everything back together, and now it doesn't work. I'm sure I didn't change anything putting it back. Any ideas now? Here's what I used to pry the dash trim pad off - a plastic putty knife. Worked great! It was flexible enough and didn't scratch anything. Oh, by the way, I really appreciate all the help from this forum!!! Janice

Exactly what plastic part of the dash do you mean? I removed the vent where the defrost blows. I thought the rest was screwed in, and had to be removed from the front back. More details, please. Yes, I did search, and search, and search, and found nothing to explain this. Thanks. Janice

I am in the process of replacing the photocell. I have the plastic vent near the windshield off, and I can see where it goes. It does not simply pull straight out - it is in a plastic housing. In order to replace it, it looks like I have to twist and pull from below. Then pull old photocell out, and put new one in. Sounds simple!!! Yeah! I can't get my hands in there to do that. Actually, I managed to twist it, but now I can't reach it. By the sounds of other posts, this is an "easy" job. What am I doing wrong???

Would anyone be willing to give me detailed instructions on how to remove the dash in order to replace the photocell?

Hi again. Looks like I touched a nerve. Yes, I'm female. I hope everyone read that I did not pay for those repairs. I was just so upset that they tried to get me to have them done. I did contact three Cleveland television stations, and I'm hoping to hear back. I also reported this to Buick. They have been in constant touch with me, but it sounds like the dealership got a "slap on the wrist". While I was waiting at the dealership, I sat beside a couple of elderly ladies. They are the ones I worry about most. They remember past times when people could be trusted. Elderly women are probably prime targets for these crooks!!!
