Windows keep falling out of track. Opened panel and noticed broken guides on bottom of windows. was told that I must buy whole window because guides are fused to window. Is there another way? (The tracks appear to be good) Help!

replaced modulator in my transmission hoping to correct a hard downshift from third to second when slowing down for a stop. it didn't work. found out on a trial run that it bangs into second from third when i bring it to a stop slowly. if i stop suddenly, it doesn't bang. what could this be? are there any trans buffs out there? i have a 1988 reatta.

does a trans modulator necessarily have to be sucking trans fluid to be bad? how else can it be bad?

where can i find the guides that slide along the the window tracks that keep the window from tilting one way or another causing it to jamb on the way up? and, is there a proceedure for setting the power window to slide properly?

the A/C fan doesn't come on when i put the A/C on. is that normal? or does it have to reach a certain temp.?

thanks for your response. i followed the vac lines to where you said and believe that i found the modulator. i pulled the vac line off the modulator and got a change in the rpm's. can a modulator hold vacuum and still be bad? (2) the noise is comming from the drivers side of the engine and quiets down when the engine gets hot. it almost sounds like a loose bolt in the fly wheel or torque converter, is that possible?

thanks for your response. the noise or rattle sounds like a centrifical type noise, it kind of reminds me of a loose bolt i had in a fly wheel at one time with another car. it quiets down after the engine gets hot, but you can still tell that it's there. it comes from the drivers side of the motor. any thoughts on that?

how hot is a 3.8 engine in a reatta supposed to get befor the fan turns on to cool it down? my engine heats up to between 118 & 226 befor the fan turns on. if this is wrong, what do i do to rectify it?

bought 1988 reatta, sight unseen, found that the transmission shifts great all the way up the gears, but bangs into second gear on the way down. someone told me that it could be a vacuum line or modulator. i can't find a broken line and am not sure where the modulator is. can the problem be something else? i also hear a rattling noise between the trans and the motor which goes away when i rev the engine. is this part of the problem? other than that the engine sounds strong. it has approximately 160k on it.
